Edgar Guzman

Site Coordinator at ASSET's

Edgar Guzman

UC Riverside
AISS Class of 2007 (High School)

Being a first-generation college student, I did not have the appropriate support nor the resources to be successful for my college career. However, being involved with AISS prepared me for college. Aside from preparing me for college, AISS provided me with 21st-century skills (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity skills) to be successful and excel in the workforce. I am currently working with SAUSD as a Site Coordinator for the comprehensive After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSET's) extended learning program. This program provides academic assistance, enrichment opportunities, college and career readiness, family literacy and higher education support to 7th-12th grade students and parents.
Now I am able to give back to my community and prepare our future leaders.

The Achievement Institute’s outcome-driven model is an intensive two-year program with the first year focused on STEM career awareness, and the second year concentrated on college readiness.
